You know Dal so important part of New Delhi that its taste effects family life, its price effects economy and politics and its presentation and cooking makes even street vendor fear full.

So Dal is integral part of New Delhi.

 This month of August, so here I am writing on Dal, as we celebrate our Independence Day on 15^th August every year, witnessed Yoga Guru’s society and political change movement, Muslim festival EID and Hindu festival Raksha Bhandan.

Still I say I am all right to write on Dal.

Romantically good Dal can win hearts of anyone. Good Dal for me makes best family friends where I go for dinner

Dal, curry of thoughts, protein, energy, vegetarian and full meal for every poor and rich citizen of New Delhi, oh no full whole nation, India.

Any type of pulses prices affects the politics of not only New Delhi, but whole nation. So you can understand the importance of pulses in our society, politics and health.

Going into it is business, you will be shocked and get informed that 99% of Dal and daily fresh vegetable business is unaccounted.

Dedicated dal lovers like me normally try to soak Yellow and black Dal with Kidney beans for 10-15 hours before start cooking. After boiling in pressure cooker with make cashew nut paste and sallow fry it with lot of heavy Indian pure oil. We call it Dal Makahni, means Dal with butter and chesses. This is the Dal, which means

Dal is curry made with available pulses, seasoning, spices and water. Boiled and than tossed with onion, garlic, ginger and spices. Easiest cooking menu which is done in almost every household in India. Its taste normally depends upon the water content and spices we add. Same Dal seeds taste varies within 20 kilometer of distance within whole nation. Seasoning or adding salt content counts a lot into taste.

We can get Dal in many forms and very low price to high price, means you can get Dal for 25 $cent or INR 20 TO 2$or 110INR/ one portion or for one person. In five star hotel and restaurants we get medium portion of Dal for $10 OR INR 550 to $50 or INR 2700 depending upon reputation of the place.

After long time a try to keep my emotion on food, as you know August is humid month of the year here in New Delhi. Apart from hot and dry season we had some political rallies those keep my mind occupied. Also this month we normally keep rains cooling town temperature but this year less rains kept food mood out. You know normally during rainy season as per priest of Hindus, it is advised not have non vegetarians food and food from out side homes during rainy season food is normally contaminated with rain water and humid season, it is not a present day advise, it has been written in our holy books those are supposed to be 2000 year old.

So here rationally we have some good advice to keep our self healthy.  

BEST PLACES FOR DAL IN NEW DELHI

All five star hotel in New Delhi serve Dal of all types which I have mentioned but problem is they charge like rocket fare means USD 15 TO 70,where as you can get good dal for 3-5USDin any fine dine small restaurants. Yes to pay more once in the blue moon is fine, once I tried Dal for INR 2000, means USD 40.

BOKHARO, TAJ, MERIDIEAN, OBERIOS AND LEELA in central and South Delhi are best five star hotels to have Dal.

STREET SHOPS THOSE HAVE HYGENIC SPACE-

Normally every part of city had one street vendor or small take away joint serving Dal, we need to consult local resident, as at my locality I have some small vendors those butter fry Dal in front of me and charge USD 1.5 OR INR 80/ for 2 portion of Dal.

Some time I try in afternoon vendor at that time he had opened the shop and seems bit cleaner than evening and he charges onlyUSD0.90 INR 40 for good 2 portion of Dal. So it is matter of choice and quality. Money does not matter as long as you need to enjoy taste of particular day.

You know we can have a really good Dal and Roti, Indian bread cook book with reviews of New Delhi restaurants. It will take time for me to work on this but I think we can do some 100 pages book on that topic that is good for all Indians and those travelling New Delhi for first time.

In my house and restaurants as I am not allowed to eat non veg for last one month so I tried Dal in different forms and places.

Please forgive me; I am not trying to defame any profession and person. Here I am also not portraying myself and political critic.

The most admired and fast developing city in Asia, city with touch of everything; politics, business, sports, media and all four seasons given to us by mother nature. But the most important part of modern economy and city is news and views expressed and publicized by any form of broadcast medium are turned annoying or not to mention bad word called unacceptable.

These days television journalist and their directors portray themselves as the most privileged and celebrated citizens of India those have the best knowledge and can say and show anything their or their so called political and business friends like to.

For example in New Delhi we don’t have proper hospitals and public schools, but news channels promote and advertise private schools where they say we have Oxford or Stanford qualified teachers.

 Where common middle and poor class will go. New Delhi where we have pay tax just to use roads and need to have own water purifiers and electricity generations.

Do we as writers and those address events and situations in any form to community need to go for real issues in simple format?

I don’t know why I write on issues that matters to me or my community I live? But I try to focus on all good and bad parts and events of the city which I love to live called New Delhi. Please don’t blame city, politicians and governments officials only we as citizens, journalist and writers need to address real issues. One thing more here we find that we raise issues at sensational level to get readership. Why television channels and news papers make reports those have only done to create sensationalism and blaming city administrations.

Why we show debates among different political parties and so called top qualified news editors portray themselves as judges?

I live down town of New Delhi, district called Dawarka which has 2 million people moved in just span of a decade and we don’t have hospital and here people talk about local policies makes money with land grabbing.

Being judgmental, critical informative means good news reporter. Time has made sensational part of news made very important part of news reporting. Television news channels made gimmicks and irrational news like conman or fatal accident reports are more important than any reality reporting. News television channels need film reviews and stand up comedians to cover air time on particular day.

Managing one political news coming every hour with twist or words and with different anchors is name of the game.

Food and restaurants views are made by novice journalist or just being celebrity is called food reporting these days. Some news channels are promoting self proclaimed God man and ghost reports. Some English news journalist are making reports on Tiger conservation and economic slow down like they are true patriotism.

I am just putting my views as normal writer and citizen of this beautiful city named New Delhi.

English news channels journalist present themselves as so judgmental that they can make satire on anyone because they think their Oxford degree and vocabulary skills are better that any person.

I feel, today news channels and news paper are giving true and clear reporting and critical views. New Delhi, being so big city here we have everything from politics to art to big corporate to big sporting events. Here we are into the time of specialization.

It is not like that one can do reporting on all topics. It is funny to find one of the experienced political journalist making comments on food.

Top music writer or journalist becomes high paid editor of daily news paper. Hello knock, what is happening?

I like my city so much, that I seek support from news sellers to make it honest, clear and honest.

Today news channels are the mirror of any city, nation and its people.

Today making money is more important than loyalty to our job. In any civilized community, state or country, newspaper and television news channels play very important part.

As we are into 21^st century where television and internet is the best method to distribute news and views with touch of a button.

Here question is are we getting real and true news and views?

New Delhi being capital of nation has the top rated new channels and new papers in the country. All together in whole India we have the largest number of news television channels in different languages in the world.

In any form of social community we need people to get governed by the people for the people. All these people those are not in the governing community which is always lesser in number than of people in community need to be get informed of movements of governing body and rules those made and followed by governing body.

Here, in New Delhi all governing body heads live and manage their offices to organize 120 corers of people in the largest democracy in the world.

I am not qualified or posses any professional degree and training as journalist, but I suppose and presume that presenting and reporting in words or visual true picture of any event  is primary job of any journalist. Are you getting this?

NEW DELHI CAN MAKE CHANGE THIS SYSTEM OF LIFE WE LIVE? Change is law of nature, FOLLOW AND ACCEPT

Be positive and participate in change of system of our living, as we need social system and political system to get organized. Politics is not business of making profits and ruling today. Personally we need to change this voting politics and make the system where we all participate in systems how we live in this country.

As we are born and based in New Delhi and witness all political movements closely so we need to raise our voices loudly. Participate in political system to change.

New Delhi is positive and political city in the great nation India. But a few votes makes differences and puts one billion people in confused stages of their professional and social life which the up to large extent don’t like. Here I want to say that, very few votes makes our government as we have only 60-70% voters listed and normally winner gets 10% votes of our total population and only 570 people and few thousand top government IAS decides our life of over billion people.

I am not getting political or media person, I am common man looking to change system where all live together and listen to each other not to fight system but asking government system to listen to us also.

Why we say politics and politician is wrong profession, why only putting our problems in form on media news, agitation and letters send my NGOS is the only way. We have seen al these matters, here result is zero, as common citizen we got to nothing.

Wake up and say your mind and heart. Change can happen, if we even just think positive to accept change. We need change in our political and government system. Time has come here just one vote or one exam shall don’t decide how you and I live in the nation. Why all privileges are with politician and government bur official, media and lawyers in the nation. We as corporate professionals, common workers, farmers, helpers and so called working class will go to present how we want to live in this country, where we have born. Television and computer has made us aware of all things we see and listen whatever we want. So why cannot we present our say on how we want to get governed by government.

You know some time I find myself as common farmer not a corporate professional here we make way to make things happen with our business and market economic brains, on other hand farmer also make way out to grow crops to make his living, we are not entitle to complain because farmer has no where to go and we as professional need to survive in the competition. So professional workers and farmers are on same platform living mercy to accept. As farmer living on mercy of rains and government water, professional on market system and company directors. Farmer gets reward of living in non polluted life in village and professional rewarded as live in cars and air-conditioned office.

I feel as professional we live in material and unreal life .Our bosses say they follow government policy to decide how we work and share our profits with us.

So at last we all are managed and manipulated by governments. So here I feel pity about private business owners also those need to involve themselves to dirty nature of governments professional

Let’s thinks and make changes in our political system.

We as Indian have accepted all changes from living, eating, education and even marriage also. So we should accept that change is law of nature. Our political electoral system is too old and need to change, our national love is changed, our moral and self dignity emotions have been changed. So what we are waiting try change as we have done in our eating habits.

A thing which hurts any human being we try changes, so please follow any one, I am not suggesting Anna or Ramdev, and it is individual’s choice. Listen to your heart. Try to find what is good for you. But remember one thing we need change.

Secondly don’t follow news channels. As they have put in negative wipes to the nation is last 60 years. Be positive and make sure you make your point to look for change.570 people sitting in parliament are not entitle to finalize how we live in our own nation. Just passing one exam called IAS or top journalist does not give permission to decide what you and me as common citizen of nation wants.

I am not political inclined but asking to find change where we feel we live in a nation where I feel we all are same and need to fight for systems. System, government and citizens are same when we say we live in one nation.

I feel jealous a bit not too much.  After watching river Thames gets so many bridges walkways, rowing the Queen, musical stage on the bank and fresh fish to eat. It’s June and humid hot summers in the city New Delhi. Every one need stroll on the bank of river or sea to get fresh. We had flowing river which is no more a river now.

It is my satire for the city and its people I of my city New Delhi.

Summer River cries to its people those she feeds

Hold summers wave and try to breathe hard

New Delhi’s June make the sun to creed

Rivers, River hold my breath give me bread.

Flow like flamingo and sound like flute

Here we worship, but where are the ship to float

I don’t know am I correct here?

Comparing New Delhi with the London. But up to some extent am I right, after watching London’s Queen golden jubilee celebrations on river Themes. Here I feel bit parallel as we also have river and roots of Queen’s rule, which our so called elected parliament rules us, same like Queens Governors 66 years back.

But here I am concerning the system and running a city. New Delhi has everything as per world standards, but we lack commitment of citizens and planners to make it happening city like London where 20 million tourists visit, for just have good food and pleasant walks, theatres and music from all over world.

Where we are lacking behind in New Delhi comparing with London in terms maintain city. Blame it on to hot weathers and slow planning of Government. Here we have to blame migrants those coming in the city and making city over loaded and all migrants come for money and have less commitment towards city. Second our planners are so much slow in this age of high speed internet.

So here I am not saying to stop migration of people in New Delhi but saying love the city, the river and its people. Say lovely hello to all.

Here is satire to the city I love New Delhi, which has not seen bombing and spying own friends in the daily life, yes we have seen depressed rule of colonizers like British.

But I still say those took a lot but today over government are giving less to its citizen.

Oh I am not political here but for the enlistment of city food, culture and its past I am saying this. Hope my publishers like this.

Have a good and healthy talk, as we meet once these days in months.

Man is known by the company he keeps.

I hope I am not getting personal here. I am here to tell my readers about married boys day out plans in the city I love New Delhi.

In context, with Indian, lifestyle and culture, where we live in family. Marriages are meant for one wife one husband whole life system. Sometime we go out to have time without family and kids.

In Europe and USA, we can go out at nightclub where you can have hookers and dance shows to enjoy, but here in India, it is illegal, immoral and not accepted.

So, please don’t think about that.

Driving out in street, where we walked for school with water bottlers, sitting on pavements of market place where we spend whole teenage, or just chilling out in a bar, which earlier we cannot able to in our school or collage days.

Just sitting at friends place, where kids and wife are away, having drinks, kababs, loose talks and some times dirty or classic movies to watch.

You when we had stress of work, family responsibilities, traffic woes, money matter and bills honks whole week, we seek solace of mind and soul. I know alcohol, food and music makes best things to make matter cooler.

At middle age, where we can express less to family and more to friends, means realty true friends those care.

I don’t know after writing this what my wife will say because for last two weekends, I am out with friends, but last week had long party started from one drive in restaurants to a stag disco in south Delhi and dinner at 2 AM in central Delhi, This weekend which started I had short party at my place, with short drinks and one course non Vega dinner served with fresh ROTIS.

It is always better to hangout with like minded friends once a week, All over globe this is the best time married men gets. Oh my God shall be paying two weekends eating out to wife if she reads this, anyways anything for friends’ day out.

Money matters, depends how much you have spend and how. So plan accordingly, as weekends have full house in all Central and South Delhi’s pubs.

High end bars and hotels-1500 INR OR30USD per person with 2-3 drinks and 3-4 course meal.

Pubs and bars-Budget is normally INR 800 or 14USD per person with 2 drinks and one course meal.

PLAN A--Plan drinks at happy hours and have dinner at some kind of normally restaurants. This way you can have to spend 300 on drinks and 200 on food per person.

In the England, way back to 1800, after industrial revolution, it is now common for the party to last for more than one long evening in weekend or otherwise, increasing prevalence of the phrase "stag weekend".

From times of having literacy and Victorian lifestyle, men needs to go out with friends to have time where he can talk life and day’s experience without responsibilities of family.

Going by moral values and lifestyle, men normally goes out with friends in decent pubs, eats out, games show and theater to enjoy and relax from work and family 

responsibilities.

In India, during 1700 till late 1900,life of men getting relax moves around marriages, religious functions, theater and some time friends get other at home.

Eating out, drinking, pubs long drive, weekend homes came in late 1980 and in 2000,it became part of life style ,because of good money flow among youth and excess knowledge given by television and internet.

With in 2 to 5 Kilometer radius we have temple, shopping, brands, nightclub, monument, colonial buildings, bank, school, church, hotel and metro station, with garden on top. It is like city within city.

 New Delhi is round shaped, Connaught place is round shaped, earth is round shaped and our life graph is round shaped. So we call this location center point of the city.

There are certain places in every city, which makes you feel like in that particular city. It is like being there and feeling the city, people and weather all together. As a writer I get so much positive vibes, thoughts and emotions to write about this place called Connaught Place.

We can find some residents also in this old colonial market place. 

The reason: Italia, 86, the oldest resident of CP today —she moved in 1939 — believes that the place has lost its old charm and glory.In 1940's CP was the best and posh address to live in New Delhi.very few people now live here.Its surrounding residential plots and building also vanished today and made into commercial building.

I had everything of my fist thing here, means first coffee, restaurant meal, first jeans pant. This was the only and the first shopping and restaurant arcade in the city In fact 10 years back New Delhi, doesn’t had multi storey shopping malls in he city. The best thing about this arcade is that it doesn’t look like a market place it looks like a city and small town having shops in the ground floor and offices and restaurants in first floor. This single story building artiste is so unique with long and wide walking bays makes it like walking in the green grassed garden.

Shopping arcade, office complex and eating out center of New Delhi. Connaught place is center of many events and landmark or we can say heart of New Delhi. Although it has been developed by colonial British Government, it is a place from where New Delhi gets its attitude, fashion, lifestyle, eating habits and business.

The best about this commercial location is we can find cloths and food for every person and every budget any person carry. We can find shirt for 2 dolors on the street and burger for 50 cent, where as five star hotel can offer cup of tea for 5 dollars at this same location.

As tourist one can spend whole day here, doing window shopping. Movies, sitting a park, getting all type of food from street to continental. Shopping can at the best as we can have almost every global and Indian brand having sales outlet here.

I will discus in details for the eating out or restaurants in Connaught place, as it is the oldest place where we can have meal for all over the world. Even we can find the newspaper from all over the world here at this shopping center.

Named after the British Duke of Connaught, the construction work was started in 1929 and completed in 1933.

It was a ridge, having long kikar tress and inhabited by jackals, foxes and pigs. Nearest habitat area were villages named Madhoganj, Jaisingh  Pura and Raja Ka Bazaar .

Jantar Manter, was the only building built in 1764 by King of Jaipur. There was ancient temple, which still a holy place called Hanuman Mandir.

Almost all the metro train in New Delhi passes through Connaught Place. Whether you are coming from Noida, Gurgaon, India Gate, and Airport or Delhi University, will find metro trains to reach.

Cathedral Church of Redemption 

This Church is situated on the Church road, near Connaught Place, North of Jaipur Column and to the East of Parliament House at New Delhi. It was designed by a renowned architect Henry Medd. Its construction started in the year 1927 and it was completed in 1935. It looks very simple from outside and is made of red sandstone. The interior of the Church is magnificently built.

Palika Bazaar (Underground) Market in Connaught Place Set up in 1978

IPalika Bazaar market is located between the inner and outer circle of Connaught place, New Delhi. The whole market is fully air-conditioned and the only underground market in New Delhi. There are 400 shops crowd together under the lush green grassy square in Connaught Place

Tibetan Market in Connaught Place

Tibetan market is Located along the western side of Janpath from the Imperial Hotel to Connaught Place. The Tibetan Market having little shops selling every possible artifact from all over India. Connaught Place’s bargain market, where it's worth bargaining is Tibetan Market (on Janpath).

Jantar Mantar

 Built in 1724. Located near Connaught Place, New Delhi, Jantar Mantar has among the many observatories built by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Jaipur. Consists of tools used to keep track of celestial bodies. Jai Singh, after having found the existing astronomical instruments too small to take appropriate measures built these larger and more accurate instruments.

Hanuman Mandir

This Temple is situated on Baba Kharak Singh Marg near Connaught Place at New Delhi. It was constructed by Maharaja Jai Singh of Jaipur in 1724. Its design is of typical Hindu Temple architecture.

The Imperial Hotel

The Imperial Hotel is a five star luxury hotel located in Janpath (the erstwhile Queensway), Connaught Place. The Imperial was designed in 1933 by Bromfield, one of Sir Edwin Lutyen's associates. The Imperial is a legendary hotel showcasing the rich old culture of Connaught Place. 

State Emporia at Connaught Place

 

Within a kilometer from Connaught Place is Baba Khaak Singh Marg  a road having the number of state-emporia? The emporia are state government-run boutiques one for each state of India selling the traditional offerings of the state. It is an art gallery type shops, selling the craft of particular state, some also sell food items, so here we can find almost every thing from states, means we can feel the all cultures of other pars of country.

Agarsen ki Baoli—Address---Hailey Road, Connaught Place, New Delhi

 

Protected monument by Archeological Survey of India (ASI), Agarsen ki Baol in Connaught Place is a 60 meter long and 15 meter wide historical step well on Hailey Road near Connaught Place. you have can reach Jantar Mantar (at Connaught Place) and from there go towards Kasturba Gandhi Marg. Agarsen ki Baoli is a 14th Century Structure,today finds palce between the multi-storey buildings of Connaught Place. It is believed that this Baoli was originally built by the legendary king Agrasen during the Mahabharat epic era. Baoli is a Hindi word and it means a step well. Agarsen ki Baoli is being made to offer constant water supply to the city and the travelers. Agarsen ki Baoli is also a water reservoir that is known for its heritage value.

Plans to have a central business district were as the construction of the new capital of Imperial India started taking shape, mooted by W.H. Nicholls, the chief architect to the Government of India, who planned a central plaza based on the European Renaissance and Classical style. However Nicholls left India in 1917, and with Lutyens and Baker busy working on larger buildings of the capital, it was Robert Tor Russell, chief architect to the Public Works Department (PWD), Government of India who eventually designed the plaza.

Named after, The Prince Arthur, 1st Duke of Connaught (1850–1942), third son of Queen Victoria and uncle of King George VI, Connaught Place's Georgian architecture is modeled after the Royal Crescent in Bath, England, who visited India in 1921 and laid the foundation of the Council House (now Sansad Bhavan, or Parliament House). It was designed by the architect John Wood the Younger and built between 1767 and 1774. Though while Crescent is semi-circular and three storied largely residential structure, Connaught Place had only two floors, almost makes a complete circle and was planned to have commercial establishments on the ground with residential area on the first floor. 

 The circle was eventually planned with two concentric circles, creating Inner Circle, Middle Circle and the Outer Circle and seven radial roads, around a circular central park. As per the original plan, the different blocks of Connaught Place were to be joined from above, employing archways, with radial roads below them, but the circle was 'broken up' to give it a grander scale. Even the blocks were originally planned to 172 meters high, but later reduced to present two-storied structure with an open colonnade. 

Government’s plans to have the New Delhi Railway Station to be built inside the Central Park was rejected by the Railways as it found the idea impractical, instead it chose the nearby Paharganj area. Finally the construction work began in 1929, as principal construction of the Viceroy House (present President's House), Central Secretariat, Parliament House, and All-India War Memorial, India Gate was winding down and was complete by 1933, much after the inauguration of the city in 1931.

It is my pleasure to write a book in whole on Connaught Place and surrounding. Really it is nostalgic to think and visit this place hope when reader of this article visits this location, must feel the same.
