Day is bright—Poetry on the city named New Delhi

Day is bright—Poetry on the city named New Delhi

Written By Shailesh Sharma Pokhriyal,
18th Novemeber, 11.PM .Dawrka, New Delhi trying to be positive on the city which takes more than you give……

City of heart, hope and food for all, all are near but looks far……
News are made, minster created, building erected; here emotion like dart
Remembering old friend of good times haunts dream like tar
City takes you to medieval times and throws back on broken petrol car.

I think I live very near… New Delhi—city that looks too far

Oil lamp was burning whole night; someone said it was raining whole night
Those missed might be intoxicated in dark side of city’s life
Day is crimson and bright, sparrow mingling with crow up in the sky
Cemented tower window pans out faces of delight and shy

Children, cars, cafe and career moves out in the street
Beggars, endlessness, old age and crime on the road of discreet.

Food and fashion moves together from street to ramp
Why we lost hope and honesty on the city map.

Monuments gets repainted, stadium gets raised
Still hospitals have long ray of hope and rushed

Gardens get locked with young lovers; behold some one find peacock on the street turn
Late night fog disrupts the movement of city; hey festival of light still gets burn

Aspiration of money and power runs on library and café,
City has round table politics and disco on the same way

Dancers from Egypt and guitar player from France play the same tune
Wine, pizza, noodles are coming out from the kitchen with same name…

Moonlight on my window, tree is hiding a whore
Drunken men shouting on Dry River shore
Executive driving fast car calling traffic like war
Food tables booked, street bar-be-que looks soar
City of heart, hope and food for all, all are near but looks far……

I think I live very near… New Delhi—city that looks too far
